Description
WHY WE LIKE IT – This wine has massive pedigree and quality. The Lafite family and Mendoza Family Catena co-created what we believe is like the second label of a very serious wine.
TASTING NOTES – This shows blackberry, tobacco, coffee and iodine aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Polished, yet happily dense with creamy tannins and a long, savory finish.
PRODUCTION NOTES – Bodegas Caro was born of an alliance between two wine cultures, (French and Argentine), two noble grape varieties, (Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec), and two renowned wine families, (Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Nicolas Catena.) Vignerons since the 19th century, these two powerful organizations have combined their deep knowledge of Mendozas high altitude terroir and the art of winemaking to create a unique wine.
The harvest was conducted by hand and grapes are carefully sorted on tables and destemmed before being placed in stainless steel tanks for fermentation. Regular pumping-over ensured a gentle extraction of the tannins. After malolactic fermentation, 50% of the wine was transfered into French oak barrels for a period of 12 months, and 50% is placed in concrete vats.
PARK PLACE SOMMELIER PAIRING – Pair with grilled/roasted meats with an herbal/savory preparation, BBQ, hearty stews & soups. Try with Marinated Skirt Steak with Chimichurri Sauce.
